The Maharajah Duleep Singh Portrait

My most important commission to date was the Maharajah Duleep Singh portrait. To be chosen for this commission was a great honour. The portrait was unveiled in Thetford Town Hall at a civic reception and was created to commemorate the centenary of the princes death. It was commissioned by the Duleep Singh centenary trust in 1993. Until 2013 it was displayed in the art collection of the Thetford Museum.

I am pictured here with Peter Bance (aka Bhupinder Singh Bance), independent researcher and author of numerous books on Sikh history, specialising in the Last Sikh King, Maharajah Duleep Singh. Peter is holding a copy of his book, Sovereign Squire & Rebel: Maharajah Duleep Singh.

He has appeared in many BBC programs including, The Story Of The Turban (2012) and Britain’s Maharajah (2013).
